Fall Prevention & Health Promotion
Improving health, protecting independence, and growing confidence at every step.
About
Falls are not an inevitable part of aging. Yet they affect one in three Americans aged 65+ each year and remain the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries among older adults. The good news: falls and fall-related injuries are preventable.
High Country Area Agency on Aging is committed to reducing fall risks through education, awareness, and community engagement.

A Matter of Balance
Developed by MaineHealth, A Matter of Balance is an eight-session program that helps older adults reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels. Through group discussions, peer support, and skill-building, participants learn practical strategies to view falls — and the fear of falling — as manageable.
This entry-level program is ideal for those at higher risk, those needing gentle activity, or those experiencing fear of falling.
